Once a rapper gets a taste of fame they usually want more. Rappers want to act and be part of an entire entertainment package. This is true for Master P. He took a leading role in the movie I Got the Hookup. The movie is a comedy that follows the main characters in their life of crime. This movie was produced by this record company No Limit Records. Master P and A.J. Johnson play Black and Blue who work selling televisions and music players such as boom boxes from their van on the street corner. They are accidently shipped a box of cell phone and take advantage of the opportunity. They enlist the help of a hacker who make the cell phone fully functioning. They also bring in Black’s girlfriend who works at a cellular phone company. She becomes their connection to the cell phones. Business is going well for Black and Blue but in the process they anger a local crime boss who blames them for this loses. Not only is that happening but Black’s girlfriend’s boss is becoming suspicious of them as well as the FBI. To top it all off they have to deal with customers that are no longer happy with their purchase. After a lot of running and escaping things work out for Black and Blue and they are able to escape any kind of trouble. For the most part this movie is funny and Master P does not do that bad of a job as an actor. This movie also has appearances by other rap stars include Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and rappers from the No Limit Camp including C-Murder and Msytikal.There was a soundtrack that goes along with the movie that reached number three on the Bill Board charts. The movie soundtrack was produced by Master P and was distributed through No Limit Records. This movie and the soundtrack helped make Master P not only a rap star but gave him a start in movies as well. While nothing about crime is funny this movies brings a humorous view to the street.
